Cool Kids Reading Challenge
New for the 2008/2009 school year
We will now be offering the Cool Kids Reading Challenge at any time during the school year so that your school can decide what time of year works best for them! You can also determine the length of the challenge - 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks!
The Cool Kids Reading Challenge is open to all schools in the United States.
What is the Cool Kids Reading Challenge?
The Cool Kids Reading Challenge is a fundraiser that enables schools and their students to help kids with cancer while encouraging the joy and importance of reading at the same time.
How does it work?
It's so easy to do. We supply the reading logs and any support the teachers need during the challenge. The kids keep track of how many minutes they read each day. At the end, each teacher receives a gift card to Lakeshore Educational Stores equal to 10% of the pledges their class raises. And the school gets back 15% of the total that the school raises.
How can I register my school?
What are some of the schools offering the students as incentives if the kids win???
Forest Lakes Elementary - If the students at Forest Lakes read 7,500 books their principal will wear a lion costume for a whole day and the teachers will turn the cafeteria into a fine dining restaurant with music and flowers on the table and will serve the students popcorn off of silver trays! (we will definitely bring you pictures of that!)
St Pius X - If their students beat the teachers their principal will wear a school uniform for 2 days and have her face painted- half blue, half white, with SPX written across it!! They are still deciding what the teachers get if they win!
Guess who won.......

Ring Factory Elementary - If the students beat the teachers the students will be invited to a "back by popular demand" singing performance by the principal and assistant principal! Mr. Cooper and Mrs. Roberts will share their singing talents with the students at a Karaoke Morning Assembly!
Fallston Middle - If the students reach their goal of reading 1,177 books then the assistant principal, Ms. Green will dye her hair pink!
